Cozumel, Mexico

San Gervasio Mayan Archaeological Site

I pulled into the port of Cozumel with about six hours to spear. I quickly secured a taxi to take me to San Gervasio. I hadn't heard of San Gervasio until that day, so I was walking in blind. I kind of like the feeling of not knowing, it helps the educational process, keeps me inquisitive instead of having a head full of information I found on a rabbit hole on the internet.

Before I could get to San Gervasio however, the driver wanted to take me to a local tequila producer Tequilera Los Tres Tonos. Walking the grounds, they showcase how they have been making tequila all these years with equipment that hasn't changed with time. They also have an impressive garden and an area out back where you can relax and have a bite to eat. Great place to explore once in Cozumel.

We then took a short ride to the archiloigal site San Gervasio. At the front there are guides with knowledge on what you're seeing in the park and believe me, there is a lot to see. There are a a wide array of ruins and a nice walk for those looking for some exercise. There is also the added effect of having Iguanas everywhere which is always cool.

I headed back to the bay-front to see what other activities could be done for my short stay. I went to the ferry terminal to see the boats. Keep in mind Cozumel is an island and a ferry is needed to go to mainland Mexico. I know cruises bring a majority of the people on the island but logistically this would be a great day trip from Tulum or Cancun.

Although short, I really enjoyed my time here. Cozumel doesn't strike me as a place I'd come to spend a week but it definitely deserves another look with more time.
