Liechtenstein is one of the few countries in the world that doesn’t have an airport. To get to the small country you have to connect through Switzerland by train. So my journey started at Zurich Hauptbahnhof where I purchased a ticket for the equivalent of $81.00 The ticket was a roundtrip to Vaduz and covered the train and the bus. Other than trying to get to Vaduz quicker getting off at the wrong train stop and wasting about an hour, it's relatively easy. The best way is to take the Train from Zurich HB and transfer at Sagan’s to the 11 Bus.
Once in Vaduz, I chose to get the hard things out of the way first. The climb to the Vaduz Castle. It’s a nice 30-minute ordeal and you will be rewarded with some of the best views in the city. After the castle, I visited the tourist shop for my official stamp. Then visited a few of the top places in the city.
It was interesting to find out all the history the tiny country had and the wealth it amassed for such a small country. Like its neighbor Switzerland, it's more on the expensive side but there is a lot you can do on a day trip. I’m happy I took the time to visit and you should too.
