Montego Bay, Jamaica

Montego Bay was the second city I visited while in Jamacia. Even though I landed at Sangster International Airport in Mobay, I got in a car and went right to Negril. I was in Mobay two separate times. I spent three nights at the Sea Garden Beach Resort and one night at the Grand View A Hotel.

I arrived at the Sea Garden Beach Resort a little after 3 pm. Despite having a 3 pm check-in, my room was ready. Around 4 pm, I got a room and decided to relax that day. Spent the night at the pool, having free snacks and drinks at the bar and enjoying the given entertainment.

The next day, I had breakfast in the main hall and then proceeded to the beach for some plane spotting. The beach has great access to the runway and is an Avgeeks dream. The hotel has a private enclosed beach with a bar that makes snacks like jerk chicken and burgers etc. At about 1:45 I hopped on a bus and headed to the Martha Brae river for rafting. It was an easy ride down the river where you got to learn about Martha Brae, nature, and other surrounding facts of the area. I even took over rafting a bit while my guide Peter took some photos.

Afterward, I went to the Luminous Lagoon. The lagoon glows while you swim and it's really one of the natural wonders of the world. The tour itself is about 40 minutes and most of the time spent here is waiting around to be called. All tours come with a complimentary fruit punch or rum punch. Bring a towel and possibly a change of clothes if you plan to swim.

The next day I loaded onto another bus and began the Adventure to Mystic Mountain. Mystic Mountain has ATVs, zip lining, bobsledding, obstacle courses, rock climbing, and much more. The package also comes with free lunch (beverages not included) and a stop at the Dunns River Falls. We went to the beach and held hands in a congo line formation to be guided up the falls. I suggest driving here instead of a tour so you can stop at the pudding man. (Edgar Wallace) and get some of Jamaica's famous pudding. After returning from the tour, I had fun tasting local specials at the hotel. I didn't eat out much since the hotel was all-inclusive and the meals were free.

The next day check out was at 11 and since there were no tours I could do, I went back to the beach for some plane spotting. Another great tour from Mobay is the 9-mile tour but that's for another trip. I had a 2 pm bus to Kingston on the Knutsford Express so I focused on that and noting what I needed to do on the next trip.

I stayed at the Grand A View Hotel on my return from Kingston. The Sea Garden Beach resort doesn't do one-night stays and I needed a place to relax for the night before leaving the next day. All in all a great stay and I really loved the food. I could see myself staying here on a future trip to Mobay.
