The first time I set foot into terminal 5 was to get an Air Lingus flight to Dublin. For the first twenty seven years of my life I flew American Airlines and partners only. For the last nine i've flown exclusively Delta and partners.
I got a steal of a flight to Guatemala one way for $144 during the pandemic and the only thing I could remember is that the terminal had no lounge. Any airprot where I have to buy a drink is already troublesome. There are lounges but not any I get in for free. Priority Pass gets me into a Be Relax Spa and thats it. For now, the 5ive Steak on the central concourse is my go to spot. With the recent announcement of a new lounge coming to Terminal 5, I will keep an eye out there.
I tend to arrive at the terminal an hour before the flight since theres not much going on buy a majority of the times I fly Jet Blue the flights are late so the wait time adds up. The terminal needs a refresh but I see they have been making strides. The only thing I can say about Jet Blue negatively is that there app needs an overhaul, SWIFTLY!
The staff is great, in flight entertainment is up to par and their flight offerings are not too bad. They are also one of the only airlines with direct flights to the Caribbean on most islands out of New York and the price is relatively competitive. I do in fact hate the hub and spoke model of American where I always have to stop in Miami or Delta in Atlanta, so this saves me time.
My favourite feature is the ability to pool points with others so your closer to a free trip, something I havent seen since British Airways and I look forward to taking a few flights with them in the future. They expanded into London and has partnerships with Qatar airways, Singapore Ailines and Iceland Air to name a few, maybe if done right, we can have a fourth airline alliance with them at the head. Until then, I really want to see what they have in store for us in 2025 and beyond. I just took them to Trinidad and i'm impressed.
